Although
Gloria Custodio may not be in the public eye, her success as a realtor has
been recognized when she was featured in the Fall 2002 issue of
Vancouver's CORPORATE LIVING magazine along with successful personalities
as broadcasting icon Tony Parsons, big-time Volvo dealership owner Don
Docksteader, Derek Chapman, builder of Vancouver's million dollar homes
and other achievers in the Vancouver scene.
In
a feature story entitled “Gloria Custodio: A Realtor with a Personal
Touch,” writer J.B. Lovell states:
After
falling in love with
Canada
on vacation in 1985, she left civil unrest in the
Philippines
with her husband and two young children. “When I arrived here, all I had
was my good name and integrity.” Drawing on these assets, she laid the
foundation of her business. Settling into a new environment and lifestyle,
along with starting the new business was the greatest challenge she ever
faced. “I only knew three couples when I started real estate, she
recalls, “now 99% of my business is through referrals. Gloria has
developed a solid clientele based on her feelings for people and their
needs. In a highly competitive real estate market she still maintains
personal touch that's become her signature. “I know I could make more
money, but I'll never have an assistant taking calls,” she states “my
clients are my friends.”
The
magazine quotes Nasim, one of Gloria's many satisfied clients: “Talented,
caring, compassionate and honest are few of the words that can describe
Gloria. I was extremely satisfied with her very professional service. My
realtor for life.”
One
of the star realtors of REMAX 2000, Gloria gives little importance to the
awards and recognitions she has received for her work and would rather
dwell on the personal satisfaction she derives from her close relationship
with her clients. “Client satisfaction is my paramount goal and it makes
me feel happy when, after a sale, I know I have served the best interest
of a home buyer.” Her experience in construction and her flair for
interior design help her make a good choice in her clients' search for a
good home.
Gloria
has been a realtor for a good ten years now but her tenacity and work
ethic have not changed. She credits her success to patience and people
skills, traits she put to good use while helping her husband in his
construction business and as a realtor in
Manila
before she immigrated to
Canada
. An avid golfer, she takes special pride in a “Hole in One”
certificate prominently displayed on the wall of her office.
She
wanted to be an architect but had to follow her parents' advice to become
a pharmacist. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree
from
Centro
Escolar
University
and for a while, practiced her profession helping run the family's
pharmacy business. As it turned out, she would eventually end up being an
accomplished realtor and being recognized in
Canada
for excellence in her craft.
Gloria
is married to businessman Danilo Custodio who commutes between
Vancouver
and
Manila
to attend to his business affairs. They have two children: Hanna, a
medical radiographer at
Vancouver
General
Hospital
and Jin, a senior analyst at HSBC and a professional photographer. Both
are graduates of
Simon
Fraser
University
